The Lovebirds Live at Sound

There’s a reason Leicester Square doesn’t have a thriving music scene and Wednesday night at Sound reminded me why. Over priced drinks, a live room decked out like a music video shoot rather than a real venue, support bands so ‘perfect’ they could have come out of a music making factory…

So it was a breath of fresh air to see The Lovebirds headlining, a proper band with raw songs who don’t look like they’ve been dressed by the lead designer of FCUK. Everything was there that the previous bands lacked – the right attitude, presence, playing with feel – and it was there in buckets.

It’s no surprise then that they left a large part of the audience slightly bewildered, I even over heard two confused punters trying to figure out if the band were heroin addicts (they aren’t). Considering the general clientele of your average night out in Leicester Square this reaction can only be a good thing.

Listen to The Lovebirds here.
